La cueva La Soledad es la más cercana a la cueva Pintada y forma parte de lo que se considera como el conjunto pictórico del cañón de Santa Teresa. Una de las peculiaridades de este yacimiento es que el muro que sostiene las figuras está cubierto en gran parte por una capa salina resultante de la escorrentía del agua de lluvia por filtración. En palabras de notables restauradores, esta capa permite ahora una protección o guarda natural de las pinturas rupestres de este yacimiento que no es posible para otras cuevas. Las indagatorias para ubicar la antigüedad de la presencia humana en la cueva de La Soledad han arrojado una temporalidad de 6,990 años antes del presente, lo que ubica al sitio como uno de los más antiguos de los que hasta el momento se han fechado en Baja California Sur. La fecha corresponde a una cuerda torcida que fue recuperada por una excavación arqueológica. .
LOS LÍMITES DE LA GRAN MURALLA.
La cueva de La Soledad forma parte del estilo Sierra de San Francisco de lo que llamamos el “Gran Mural”, cuyos límites van desde la Sierra de San Borja y la Sierra de San Francisco hasta la caída sur de los cerros de la Sierra de Guadalupe, justo donde comienza otro estilo pictórico llamado La Giganta, nombre que le dio la Sierra de La Giganta, donde los indígenas creían que vivían “los gigantes”. Paradójicamente, las pinturas rupestres de esta sierra no son como muchas de San Francisco o de la Sierra de Guadalupe, “monumentales”, de gran formato, o como se dice coloquialmente, “hechas por los gigantes”, tan gigantes que no aguantaban en pie en algunos de las cuevas y tenían que tumbarse boca arriba en el suelo para entrar y pintarlas. .

The cave La Soledad is the closest to the cave Pintada and is part of what is considered as the pictorial ensemble of the canyon of Santa Teresa.
